Shooting Star!!
Posted by: Audrey Post date: April 21st, 2009We saw Race To Witch Mountain at the movies, kids loved it and I guess that’s what counts.
I took Guinness for a run at North Lakes while Miss 9 was at dancing yesterday evening, and it was really pleasant. It’s cooling down nicely now, but no doubt in a month or so I’ll be complaining about the cold. The sandflies are quite disconcerting; I got one in both eyes on separate occasions. There are less sandflies through the streets compared with near the lake, but the lake is prettier to run around. I don’t know why, but they don’t put the street lights on around the lake after dark, which makes it a bit creepy, and I avoid it when darkness falls. Covered 6.5km with no foot pain.
Just as it was getting dark, I saw a shooting star. It was quite big, bigger than any one I’d seen before, and its tail was thick. Aren’t you supposed to make a wish on a star? Does it jinx you if you tell? Oh well, here ’tis – I wished for an end to injuries for the time being. I think that’s more up to me though, than any wishes on stars.
Back into schoolwork again today, and both kidlets did in excess of what I asked them to. I also had a chat to our distance ed teacher. We’re changing distance ed colleges in semester 2, and we’ve had this teacher now for over three years. I wanted to tell him before he heard from anyone else, but alas, there’s always someone in every crowd who likes to discuss other folk’s business, and he’d already heard we were leaving.
Miss 9 is off to Girl Guides tonight so Master 6 and I may go for a short jog; we’re probably going to the Gold Coast for the 5k again, and it won’t hurt for him to stretch his legs. The dilemma is which dog(s) to take. Master 6 would like to take his dog, Sherbet, but we can’t take one whippet and not the other. So, I’d have Tiger. I could also manage one of the big dogs, but that would leave one dog at home on his own. Maybe since Guinness had a run last night, we’ll just take the two whippets for a short one, and make it up to the big dogs later in the week. Decisions, decisions…

You should have really gone for broke and wished for an end to all injuries for you and all your friends!

I haven’t seen a shooting star for years! And I agree…. you definately can’t leave one dog at home alone! I’d love a dog to run with but alas, it’s one of the downsides of apartment living.

Hope your wish comes true! Just read about your trail experience with the creeks- glad you made it back without incident- it is amazing how strong the flow can be.
