My Foot Hurts!
Posted by: Audrey Post date: January 7th, 2009Still having problems with my darned foot. From all my Googling, it sounds like plantar fasciitis but that seems to be more of an insidious, slow onset type of condition. I think my plantar fascia is just inflamed and bruised from the shoes, which makes me hopeful it’ll be fixed well before the 12 weeks that’s the usual timeframe for resolving PF. Hubby and I took the big dogs and the kidlets on their bikes for a 7k run on Monday evening, and it felt just fine, but I was sore again yesterday morning.
I’ve been playing with a really neat little piece of software called Snag-It, it’s a screen capture software that I’m using for writing a couple of ebooks. I’ve downloaded the 30 day free trial, but probably won’t go on to purchase it. I can do the same thing with Photoshop Elements and I already have that. Here’s a picture from Wikipedia I “snagged” with an arrow showing where I hurt.
Maybe if I make my fortune writing ebooks, I could justify the $40 or so it will cost for an educational license.
All I’m doing with the foot is ice and voltaren gel. I haven’t quit running, but I will do my fartlek session today on the elliptical trainer to avoid pounding it. It’s starting to feel a lot better.
The kidlets are doing very well with their couch to 5k. They’re up to week 5. Yesterday was a 5 min run, 3 min walk, 5 min run, 3 min walk then another 5 min run. They cruised through it. I was remembering how it was when I did the program last year. The second week 5 run just about trashed me. Hubby is going to add a few different days so they don’t go from an 8 minute run on day 2 of week 5 to a 20 minute run on day 3. They’re on track for their first 5k run at Sanctuary Cove at the end of February.
I’ve started a 30 day blogging challenge, where you have to post to your blog every day for 30 days. It’s worth a shot because the winner scores US$500. No, it’s not this blog, I’ve not got much of interest to say on a daily basis, and part of the judging is on content. So, I’ve set up a blog at Homeschooling Income and I quite like it. It is so darned hard to post every day. Gets to late afternoon and I’m weary, and I have to switch the brain on one more time. Still, it’s an interesting experiment in sticking with things, so we’ll see what comes of it. Could use US$500 though.
I’m taking the kidlets to the lagoon for a swim this afternoon, and we’ll meet Hubby there after his foreshore run. That means I should do some laundry and tidying up now, eh? I’d almost rather do that than fartlek.

I hope it isn’t full PF that can be a bitch. My wife had it, and it still hasn’t completely gone, for 2 years, so look after it. Another good idea is a frozen bottle of water and roll it under the foot.

I have bad stories about PF too- so my advice is to get it diagnosed and then start treating it- I had cortisone injections for mine and it still took me a year to get back running properly (sorry I bet you didn’t want to hear that!)
