Fish oil is great stuff. My sister called and said it had done wonders for her and I should try it. She recommended at least 2000mg/day. The pills are so big that they are like another course with dinner, but there are now several brands that advertise "no fishy burp" and that's true.

I've added fish oil to my dogs' food for years. It makes their coat incredibly shiny and soft. The down side is it gives them fishy breath. It's worth it to avoid all the itchy skin problems typical with German Shepherds.

I know what you mean about losing an interest in running. I started running last winter and it was going great while the weather was nice and cold! But when summer came around I was getting physically sick from running even in the coolest parts of the day and my running ended up tapering off. Now that the weather is cooling off again I've been back in training, starting almost from scratch. My goal is the City to Surf 10km. Hopefully the fish oil worked for you! I've been on a hunt for a good multivitamin, work drains the heck out of my energy. I also need to get some more Endura powder, it did wonders for my running back when I first started!

I know this is an older post, but still wanted to post a comment. I take Udo's 369 Oil Blend and it is really good. Be prepared to take some ginormous capsules with every meal, but other than that there is no taste to it. I use the liquid version to put into my morning smoothie, which is super yummy, and I cannot tell the "fishy" taste.

I have actually considered taking flax seed oil. I don't know what the difference is in the two, but I have heard good things about both, so I may give it a whirl!

Hi- nice to hear you are still running with your dogs! I have been taking fish oil for the past three weeks now- I take it at night so I don't the burps- but when I took it in the morning it was HORRIBLE! The other thing is that it makes me a bit nauseous in the mornings but now that I am used to it I don't get that horrible feeling ten minutes after I get up (no, not preggers!) I don't really believe in it, I think that if it worked we would call it medicine and the doc would prescribe it, but I have actually noticed that my ankle feels better! I have been taking glucosamine as well, so the painfree running could be that or a combination. Good luck!

I've not used fish oil, but have been seriously considering doing so. The book I've just finished reading (Racing Weight by Matt Fitzgerald) has a final chapter about Supplements and fish oil is one of the few supplements he recommends using. I looked in our local Chemists Warehouse the other day and couldn't choose a brand.
