Fairytale Ending

I swear, my laptop is so slow I may as well be on dial-up!! If I accidentally got frustrated, and accidentally walloped the screen, would I then accidentally need to replace it?

I’ve just taken Guinness out for a really pleasant 5 1/2 k, and am now rejuvenating my muscles with a glass of red anti oxidants. Hubby and the kidlets are out for another hour and I’m really enjoying the downtime. Miss 9 has been stretching the friendship a little lately – heaven help me when she’s 16! So, I’ve grabbed the opportunity to add a post, and if I can, update the theme with my lovely new header – thanks Michelle <G>.

Hubby and I took the big dogs out to Bunyaville on Friday night for a run. We covered a hilly 12km, and my left foot started to feel a bit sore. I think I’ve got my little gel bump a little too far to the right on my orthotic, so will adjust that before my next longish run. It’s nice to see that we’re not the only one who has an exercise related “date” – Randy took d’wife out for a bike ride date on the weekend. Mind you, you gotta wonder, they ended up doing karaoke!

Master 6 had his first Scouts sleepover on Saturday night. He obviously had a great time because he put himself to bed at 4pm on Sunday night, and didn’t surface until 7am this morning.

I took Miss 9 to a Highland Dancing competition on Sunday morning. She hasn’t competed since August last year, and she was very excited to dress up and dance, and hang out with her friends. Her costumes had shrunk, or she’d had a growth spurt, one of the two. Either way, there was a lot of knee between her kilt and her hose.

Anyway, she had a sterling morning, and her whole studio cleaned up at this particular competition.  She came third in the Highland Fling, second in the Flora, second in the Sean Triubhas, and won the Sword Dance. All combined to give her second place in her age group in the Sunshine State titles.  Mind you, she did disqualify in her other two dances, the Scottish Lilt and Strathspey and Reel

The fairytale ending comment refers to Miss 9’s little friend, Caleigh. Caleigh has been dancing now for well over 3 years, and hasn’t won diddly squat. No little medals, not even a certificate. She loves to dance, and practices constantly at home, and it just hasn’t come together for her. Yet. Her mum commented that she still loves dancing, but she could see her getting a little discouraged at the lack of recognition.

Sunday was Caleigh’s day. She started off with 4th in the Scottish Lilt, but that didn’t come with a medal or certificate, but that’s okay.  She quickly made up for it. She won her Highland Fling and scored a gold medal, which had her mum in tears and everyone else a bit choked up too.  She followed it up with a second place and silver medal in the Sword Dance. She took out third place in the Trophy Fling which netted her a lovely trophy. And, the finale, she won the Sunshine State title for her age group and a honkin’ big blue trophy. It left us all feeling pretty good at the end of the day. Caleigh’s just lovely and her mum is really nice too – we’re planning on taking the girls away on a girls weekend to a dancing competition somewhere,  like we used to do at Kingaroy.

I’ve discovered there’s a Highland Dancing teacher about three streets up from me (running distance away). She does a mum’s class on Thursday mornings, and I’m so tempted. I did a term with Miss 9’s teacher many years ago, and it’s a ton of fun and really good exercise for the legs and the mind.  If I took the class, I could virtually guarantee I won’t turn the wrong way in the mother-daughter fling at the year’s end concert.

I sometimes bid on a few jobs on freelance websites, I choose writing jobs that relate to pets and animals, and bid fairly high, because it’s just not worth my while to write for $3 for 500 words. There have been a few good pet related gigs lately, so I bid on three, figuring I may as well give it a go, and expecting possibly to get none of them because there are much cheaper writers out there. How horrified was I when I got all three. So, in the next week, I have 11 articles to write, from 700 to 1500 words each. It’s feast or famine on these freelance sites.

The weather forecast for the week is rain, and it’s cold in the mornings now. I think the treadmill might be getting a bit of a workout.

You are one busy lady, always on the go, never stopping. I was wondering why your site wasn’t working today when I tried to look at it. It looks good!
Well done on the bidding also.
Have a great week, catch up later!!! :)
