My poor neglected blog! I don’t think I do enough interesting things to post every day, but guess I could do better than once a week.
We had our distance ed teacher over for dinner last week, all a bit sad because we’re changing colleges in semester 2, and he’s been our support teacher now for 3 1/2 years. I’m sure we’ll still keep in touch. That’s not why I’m doin’ the happy dance.
I did 5km on the treadmill on Wednesday and it took 38 minutes. I did have the incline up a little, and I was working pretty hard, but it still took forever. I was watching something on telly so it wasn’t so bad. I’d like to be able to time a treadmill run with the Dr Phil show but not all his shows are child friendly! That’s not why I’m doin’ the happy dance either.
On Friday night I took Guinness to dog club, and they had a substitute instructor for our class. He was great – did a lot of training with the dogs in very close proximity, so they learned to work with distraction. He asked first if anyone had dogs who were a bit grumpy to other dogs; I suggested that the other dogs were more at risk of being seduced by Guinness! That’s not why I’m doin’ the happy dance.
Work on Saturday was busy. I worked with Emily, and it was really nice because I hadn’t seen her in a while, she doesn’t do Saturdays at the moment. Nothing exciting came in, just routine stuff which made the day go very slowly. And no, that’s not why….
Having kept you in suspense for this long, the reason I’m doin’ the happy dance is that I went out to Glasshouse for a night trail run on Sunday night, and ran 22km with no foot pain. No burning in the balls of my feet, no hobbling. No nothing. We then went to Sandgate on Monday afternoon to meet up with Anja, Roland, Jen and her dog Girl, and Maureen. They did 10k with Guinness and I, while Hubby and Sinner did 5k with the kidlets and their whippets. Again, my feet were perfectly comfortable. Unfortunately, by the time we’d finished, the coffee shop had shut so we just came home for dinner. Chopped chorizo sausages, diced capsicum, yellow split peas, corn kernels, diced onion all cooked in the slow cooker with some water until the peas were cooked, then served on tortillas with sour cream and salsa. Yum. Quick, easy and delicious – my type of cooking.
If these little pads on my orthotics are going to solve my foot pain problem, I’m rapt. I can do more half marathons quicker, I can do marathons, I can do ultra marathons, I can run for 100 miles….. ahhh, hang on, let’s not get too carried away
Let’s just stop at the half marathons for now. I’ve had this problem for 15 months, since I started getting up to the 20km mark and to have it resolved like this, well, it’s just great. It’s only one run, but Hubby and I are going to hit the trails a few times over the next month and see how it goes.
Not sure what this week holds. Kidlets need to get back into their schoolwork, we had a couple of off days while we were preparing for our homeschool art show at the libary. I have a client in the US who I write for, and I’ve got 3 articles to finish for her. It isn’t a big task, but I struggle with focus, and it ends up taking longer than it should. Next weekend is Mother’s Day. We’re not doing the fun run – to enter every run that takes our fancy would mean getting a second job to pay the entries, and we’ve chosen to do the Caloundra foreshore run instead. That reminds me, we must get our entries in.
My friend Michelle in Melbourne has done me up a really nice blog header, so look out for a facelift for this blog when I get around to it.

I enjoyed the Sandgate run last Monday….Anja and I did another run from Pelican park in Clontarf to the lagoon in Redcliffe, 8.5km yesterday. This time we started off a bit earlier than the normal 5 o’clock during the week, so could enjoy some daylight.

Add-on comment: With 8.5kms I meant Clontarf to Redcliffe lagoon and retour (well, not the whole distance back, due to ‘skin friction problems’ …I know that distance is nothing for you ….
? Well, I’d better go back then to where I left …cheers for now.
By the way…speaking of struggling with focus – don’t we all have that problem, to a higher or lesser degree? I mean, I am researching stuff on the Internet, and come to think of your blog, then read what a fantastic dinner you had after our run and I add some lines of comments….have I lost my focus

Looks like I picked a good day to stop by and catch up … Remember that I asked about Thanksgiving? How about Mother’s Day? If you do, and I missed it, I hope it was a good one
